My First Book

Melissa Sunflower is a vibrant tale of a brave young girl whose journey mirrors the radiant bloom of a sunflower. In a world that often overlooks the beauty and strength of black girls, Melissa embarks on an adventure of self-discovery, overcoming challenges and celebrating her unique identity along the way.
This heartfelt story was written to fill a gap in children's literature by providing empowering representation and inspiring every young reader to embrace who they are. Dedicated to Barbados' iconic author and poet Kamau Brathwaite, the book also reimagines black girls as enchanting faeries of Afro-Caribbean descent, imbuing the narrative with a magical quality that celebrates cultural heritage and diversity.
By choosing this book, readers not only enjoy a magical narrative filled with courage and resilience but also become part of a movement that champions self-confidence and illuminates the brilliance within every child.

Acting on Film
In 2022, I was a part of a docu-drama film called, "Writing In Light" which was produced by The National Cultural Foundation, Barbados and directed by the Master Cultural Practitioner, the late Sonia Suezette Williams.
This film, was dedicated to the internationally celebrated poet, performer, and cultural theorist, and Barbadian icon, the late Professor Kamau Brathwaite.
Voice Acting In A Video Game
In 2016, I was approached by international game developer, Anna Harakopoulos from the UK, to be the main character voice and cultural anthropologist for this project. Swim, is a 3D side scrolling point and click adventure game which is like a novel that you play through by interacting with people and objects.

The main character is a girl named Anaya and she teaches people how to swim and loves the sea. Anna's purpose is to bring a new kind of story that is unique, heart warming and interesting and also features awesome female characters and role models from the Caribbean. Once finished the game will be released on Steam (PC).
